I slept through the whole thing.

People are pretty freaked, but so far still no deaths. A lot of old buildings have come down and there's a real big problem with sewerage. It's also very cold and there's a lot of people without power.

Also a lot of cows not getting milked.

They're asking people not to panic and look out for their neighbours.

Ahh crap they just announced as I am typing this that the area is in for severe weather overnight. Gale force winds and rain. So things could get worse in the aftermath.

Hopefully there will be no deaths.

Its the largest city in the south island about 400km from where we live.

The quake woke me up but I didn't know what it was. I thought it was wind hitting the house about a hour later a realtive who lives near the city phoned. They were ok but had lost water and power.

So far no reports of deaths. Just a clueless woman who was running to the hills after her micowave fell into a fish tank.

I also really liked the elementalist charr at the start. This is why I am excited, the combat looks so dynamic. Dive rolls, combos using the environment, hot swapping of skill sets ( changing of weapons ), shield blocks that really block stuff and she turned into a freaky water spout and pwned some mobs.

STO Does dive rolls, in PVE they are little more than a defense buff but a heck of a lot of fun to pull off. Instead of ' Get out of the fire ' You can Dive roll out of the fire. In PVP its a entirely different story, dive rolls let you get behind cover faster, get behind a enemy and get out of trouble fast. Also it just feels action packed. Even if ground combat is the most repetitive part of that game.

At the start of the video above the Charr elementalist rolls backwards while holding a torch ( off hand weapon and handy light source ) which set the ground a light. Thats just neat.

I can't wait to get my hands on this game.

Guildwars 2 has been showcaseing a playable demo at Gamescon in Germany this year. Another demo is in a weeks time at Penny Arcade Expo in Seattle.

Here is some footage of the game in action:

http://www.youtube.com/watch?v=hye6pA1IOFU

Has footage of the dragon from the manifesto video which removes the dought from my mind if that dragon was even possable to fight in game.

The dragon turns out to be a event ( public quest ) which activates and anyone can come along and try and kill it. Think of the Warcraft world dragons but not designed for guilds. If you help, you get a reward.

Anyway that dragon is like the size of a AT-AT from starwars and seriousely needs some snow speeders to take it down.

I have also been reading the Ghosts of Ascalon novel. I am usally not a huge fan of Game to book conversions but this one has me hooked, much like the Thrall book did and not like the stupid Day of the Dragon book.

It introduces a whole bunch of Lore between the guildwar games and is fasantaing learning more about the Charr and Sylvari. Be warned, I felt it started off a bit weak and you could almost see them activating skills in the writing but that quickly faded and the real story started.

Well worth it if you got into the Lore of Eye of the North.

Arena.net has released a brand new trailer to guildwars 2:

http://www.guildwars2.com/en/media/videos/

The video has the dev's telling us why they think their game is great. Once they finish the good stuff starts.

For me, I never really gave Guildwars 1 a chance when it was first released. It came 4 months after Warcrafts release and Warcraft had already sucked me in with its greatness. Also it keeped wispering to me ( Your paying $22.95 a month and your not playing, don't you think this is a waste of money )

It wasn't until the last Guildwars 2 trailer that really got be back playing the game. I had quit Warcraft for what I expected to only be a few months ( coming up to 1 year now ). With Warcraft gone I was able to sit down and really give Guildwars ago. I Finally after 6 years finished Prophices the first chapter and recently have also completed Eye of the North. Factions is about 75% done and Nightfall is 50%. Also I am not 50% the way though Guildwars Beyond: War of Kryta.

Like the first game, it will be subscription free. Just by the box and play. This means its not directly in compertion with other MMO's. You can pick it up, play it for a bit and leave it until more content comes out. I am sure full priced expansions and DLC will feature in this game but for once I don't mind the concept. Unlike STO whos C-Store is full of sparkle ships, Sparkle bridges and Sparkle cats ( which I am guilty of buying with my free C-Store cash ).

No idea when the game is being released, and for now I am stuck just buying the Guildwars 2 Novels and watching these videos.
